Kimono
Silk, cotton (lining)
Stenciled warps and wefts (meisen)

A kimono in the modernist vein, this design looks rather like a stained glass window, and takes virtually no cues from the traditional elelments of Japanese design.

On closer inspection, a fine gridwork can be seen in some of the enclosures.

Small gold and white squares in unpredictable places add a nice touch and help keep the design from looking repetitive.
