Sashiko stitching, stenciling, dyes, pigments

This fairly contemporary obi celebrates traditional textile techniques and designs.

The stenciling echoes the style popularized by Keisuke Serizawa, which in turn was based on traditional Okinawan stenciling traditions.

Sashiko stitching was traditionally a decorative way of stabilizing the shape of multiple layers of fabric, but here the stitching is purely decorative.
