Woman’s yukata (informal summer kimono)
Several shibori techniques

Daily Japanese Textile showed a showed another shibori yukata with a parasol theme in September (click here), but the effect is quite different.  The September yukata had a far more uniform background (with less work involved), and the parasols were uniformly placed on each panel.  These are far more randomly placed, and in different sizes.

The spokes of these parasols end in nubby embellishments.  The four stark white ‘leaves’ at the center are the elegantly decorative paper cap that traditionally finishes the parasol.  The very vibrant blue is almost certainly a chemical dye.
